The Scottish Schools Orienteering Festival is back for 2025 and will be held at Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline, on Thursday 5th June. Join hundreds of pupils from across Scotland for an exciting day of fun, adventure and friendly competition in the great outdoors. Whether you're a seasoned map reader or completely new to orienteering, this is your chance to explore, race and challenge yourself - all whilst having a blast with friends and classmates. Note that the event is on a Thursday this year and schools can opt for early, middle or late morning starts.
Entry details have been distributed via the Active Schools network, but entries from individuals or from schools who haven't received the details can be sent in.
Complete the details on the School Entry Google Form which summarises your school's entries.
You will also need to download and complete the spreadsheet (Scottish Schools Orienteering Festival 2025 Entry Form.xlsx) with the names of pupils entering from your school and then either upload in the Google Form or email to Louise.

Advance Information
This year’s festival will take place for the first time at Callendar Park, Falkirk on Friday 2 June. Being in a central location Callendar Park is easily reach from the M9 and M876. The area is a combination of parkland and mixed woodland with a good path network. Courses will be planned to stay in the best areas avoiding the summer undergrowth.

Scone Palace, Perth - Wednesday 1st June
In 2022 we returned to the grounds of Scone Palace, just outside Perth, where the Festival was due to be held in 2020. A great day's orienteering and other activities were enjoyed by over 300 pupils from all round Scotland.

This years' SSOF was be held at Dechmont Law with Deans Community High School acting as our Event Centre in Livingston.
The SSOA are pleased to announce that the Festival was organised on our behalf by Interlopers Orienteering Club who are currently working within West Lothian to develop orienteering and acknowledge the help received from West Lothian Council.

The Festival was aimed at pupils who have been introduced to orienteering through their school and the courses were set at a level that will allow success for all pupils who have grasped the basic skills. Over 350 pupils from P5 to S6 took part in the slightly damp conditions.

British Schools' Orienteering Championships Weekend, 2011

Scottish Schools' Sprint Championships results and WinSplits.
The Sprint was held on Saturday 19 November at Lanark Loch, on a bright, dry autumn day. Eleven schools took part.
The weekend events were organised by the Scottish Schools' Orienteering Association with the assistance of Scottish Orienteering, Biggar High School, Linlithgow Orienteering Club(LINOC), TINTO, Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club(ESOC), Edinburgh University Orienteering Club(EUOC), St Andrews Orienteering Club(Glasgow)(STAG) and friends from other Orienteering Clubs around Scotland.

British Schools' Orienteering Championships, 2009

Congratulations
to all of the Scottish Schools who travelled to Northumberland for the
2009 British Schools Championships held at Druridge Bay Country Park on
Sunday 22 November.
This was easily the largest contingent from Scotland for many years and with the success gained this will hopefully encourage even more Schools to travel to future events.
