Scottish Schools' Orienteering Festival
Change of Venue

Drumpellier Country Park

Updated: 12th May 2017

Due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to change venues for this year's Scottish Festival from Lanark to Drumpellier Country Park, Coatbridge.

Unfortunately, on my return from the World Schools' Championships in Italy, I discovered that South Lanarkshire Leisure had managed to triple book the Lanark Racecourse venue and despite our best efforts to negotiate a workable plan with the other two users we felt that the event would be significantly compromised by the clash of uses and a change of venue would be best for our Festival.

SSOA are grateful to Terry O'Brien who has been able, at short notice, to negotiate access to Drumpellier for the Festival. The Park has previously hosted the Festival on a couple of occasions and these have been very successful events and I am sure that this will be repeated this year.

I realise that many of you will already have arranged your transport but hopefully for most Schools Drumpellier will in fact be easier and quicker to access, with its proximity to the M8, than our original venue. The Event will be organised from the Park's Visitor Centre and this is also the site for the Cafe. The Park has lots of play areas including a brand new one which should open just before our event.

Any School who have already entered for the Festival but are unable to alter their travel arrangements will of course have their entry fees reimbursed.

Once again apologies for the late notification of the change.
